The Role:

This job is based out of our Bedford Branch – MK41 0LF and oversees transport operations by managing fleet, drivers, and logistics to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery services.

Role Overview:

Overseeing Transport Compliance for a nationwide operator of more than 100 vehicles (mixed cars, vans, HGV’s). Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Operator Licence undertakings, covering all licences across the UK.
  • Ensure that all Operator Licence information is accurate and up to date at all times (i.e. vehicle lists).
  • Ensure routine maintenance is being carried out as per Repair & Maintenance agreements and that records are being properly kept.
  • Manage third-party maintenance providers and service level agreements where applicable.
  • Oversee drivers’ hours and tachograph compliance (where applicable).
  • Manage driver licence checking as per company policy.
  • Lead investigations into road traffic and vehicle related incidents.
  • Liaise with our Insurance Broker regarding vehicle incidents as necessary.
  • Lead on vehicle procurement and replacement planning.
  • Manage national suppliers & stock for transport related items.
  • Creating, Reviewing and Monitoring adherence of transport related policies and procedures.
  • Carrying out transport audits of branches across the UK.

Requirements:

  • Transport Manager CPC 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite as well as relevant transport software 
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong people-management and leadership skills 
  • Proven managerial/leadership experience
