Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operator to be a Production Team Leader at a PVC Extrusion plant; part of a larger Production facility.
Established in 1994, Dunster House Ltd is a growing family-run international business, currently employing approximately 400 people across our 11 UK sites. This job is based out of our Huntly branch – AB54 4PS.
The candidate should have a background in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering. Preferably with extrusion experience but not essential, as training will be provided.
We will welcome applications from Graduates, with a minimum 2.1 Hons degree in a Technical subject with a hands-on and can-do attitude to develop, manage, and run an extrusion line, as well as wider Production Management skills.
The right individual will be able to demonstrate problem-solving and have strong personal traits, such as assertiveness and initiative, as well as administration and time management skills in order to succeed.
Duties:
- Assistant to the Production Manager
- Manage production in the absence of the Production Manager
- Setup/operation/shutdown of the PVC extrusion line and peripheral machinery
- Coordinating with the Maintenance Engineer during problem-solving, breakdowns, and improvement efforts
- Identify faults and carry out basic maintenance activities
Requirements:
* Right to work in the UK with no sponsorship
* Experience of working in a production environment is preferred but not essential
* Have an aptitude for technical work and a good understanding of the extrusion process, although full training will be provided
* Ability to be flexible and work without supervision
* Competent in problem solving, planning, and decision making with the ability to work under pressure, in a quality and results-driven environment
* Positive approach with a continuous improvement mindset
* Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in both verbal and written forms
Hours: Average 40 hours per week (initially normal working hours but moving to 12-hour day/night shifts)
29 days holiday inclusive of Bank Holidays increases with length of service
Starting Salary £25,000 - £30,000 dependant on experience
