The Role:
This job is based out of our Bedford HQ – MK41 0LF and seeks to assist with designing products for the special projects department.
Role Overview:
- Taking very basic concepts and developing them into fully manufacturable products with production and assembly instructions, bill of materials, costings etc.
- Whole product lifecycle participation from concept and ideation through to end of life
- Developing products in existing lines (e.g. garden buildings) as well as R&D work on product diversification.
- Training will be provided to produce, assemble, scrutinise, optimise and refine product prototypes.
- Working and learning alongside a product design and manufacturing project manager
- Involvement in making production and end user instructions
- Liaising with suppliers and sourcing parts
- Creating and adapting manufacturing documentation including CNC programs
- Working on exciting new projects
- Carry out all other requests from management on an adhoc or regular basis as required, for example administration inc. raising purchase quotes etc
Requirements:
- Grade B/6 in GCSE Maths or equivalent
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant design or technical field
- 1 year professional or educational CAD experience within a relevant parametric design software environment
- 2D drafting experience, creation of technical drawings, dimensioning, tolerancing
- Experience of building and making things, can be professional or otherwise, timber and sheet material preferred
- Experience with MS Office or equivalent software, e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook
